Foodie Fix at the Taste of Toronto

I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’m constantly adding must-eat restaurants to our Toronto food list but never, ever get around to completing it. Thanks to foodie festivals in town, we get the chance to sample dishes from restaurants we know and love but also to try new places we haven’t quite made it to yet. Taste of Toronto is always one of our favourite festivals in town to get a sampling from the best of the best.
Thanks to the American Express alerts I get on my phone, I put a placeholder for the event date months in advance. Our summer calendar fills up fast and this is such a helpful tool! We made sure to take advantage of our Front of the Line presale access and snagged two tickets before the event even went on sale – phew! I’m such a slacker when it comes to remembering to book activities, so being able to take care of it on the spot is the perfect tool for a busy girl on the go!

Unfortunately, the day we attended didn’t have the best weather (pouring rain!) so our Front of the Line access saved my butt once again, as we were able to bypass the insane ticket line and with a hop, skip and a jump we were inside the event and hanging out in the Amex Lounge – and didn’t get soaked!

But let’s get back to what we came here for: the food! Some of my personal favourites from the event were the pork belly buns from Momofuku, the cheeseburger from Richmond Station and the Piri Piri Chicken from Bar Isabel. The charcoal activated ice cream from iHalo Krunch was also the perfect tasty treat to end the day. An honourable mention must also go out to Jacob’s Creek for their frosé recipe at the event – it was a huge hit and I’ve recreated at home a few times since!

We loved getting the opportunity to take our food and findings back to the Amex Lounge for a refreshing experience. The lounge chairs and umbrellas made for a relaxing scene and came in handy when you’re trying to scarf down a cheeseburger and tacos at the same time ;) The mixologists onsite had some great drink options and were super helpful by showing us how to recreate the same mix at home. Perfect for our upcoming patio we’ll be finishing!

As always, we had a fabulous time at the Taste of Toronto and even better experience thanks to our American Express Platinum card benefits. Be sure to sign up for Amex Alerts today to ensure you don’t miss the next big event and help to secure your ticket!
