Summer in the City

I have a love/hate relationship with summer plans. In true Canadian style, we almost always make plans every weekend to see friends, get out to the cottage, plan a bonfire or more but it can often mean your weekends are booked up before the end of June even rolls around. Trying to make the time in advance for a favourite experience or concert can often prove to be difficult or if you’re two busy bee’s on the go like Adam and I, remembering to block time off, book those tickets or hold a date is a conversation we’ll have over breakfast and completely forget about it by lunch.
Last summer, I started taking advantage of all of American Express Canada’s access perks to ensure that any memorable show, concert or experience that hit the city was top of mind so we could plan around it. We scored tickets to Taste of Toronto earlier this year thanks to the Access Alrts and made it to two concerts this summer, which were bucket-list performances for the both of us.

I also love how our American Express card provides Front of the Line access to concerts, so securing tickets is a breeze and we aren’t stuck spending hours hitting refresh for additional seats to pop up or using third party vendors to secure resale tickets. Based on experience, I’ve always been so impressed with the blocks of seats the brand has access to, which I find more favourable than leveraging promo codes from the bands themselves. This access offers an elevated experience from the time you purchase your tickets to the final encore of the show.
Getting to see both of our favourite performers this year was such a great experience. From energetic performance by Kendrick Lamar, to fun confetti being thrown around by Coldplay, plus a first for me – seeing a performance at the Rogers Centre with the Dome open! All of these made for a concert experience like no other.
Also timed around our anniversary, we had a blast celebrating a night out on the town thanks to some help from the Amex Platinum Concierge team. From securing dinner reservations for date night to even breaking down a proposed itinerary based on the venue’s performance schedule, every last detail was managed to perfection.

We had an amazing time ringing in our 9th anniversary in the city with back to back concerts with one heck of a date night. But stay tuned in the coming weeks to see how where we’re headed for the actual celebration!
