House Hunting Jitters No More

You’ve been hunting for what feels like forever and finally… you’ve found it. While this would certainly apply to the most perfect pair of shoes, bag or coat – we’re shifting gears today to talk about buying a home. Casually on the lookout ourselves, I know how frustrating it can be to ‘want’ to find that perfect home but making sure the budget, look and feel, and location all meet your needs before you buy on a whim.

We’ve always purchased new homes and with that comes new schools, new communities, guesstimating your property taxes and so on. Now that we’re considering resale, we’re finding ourselves having to consider factors we never thought possible. While we’ve worked with a great real estate team, I can’t help but feel like my 958 questions about every property are a bit much! If only there were a way to provide answers to the questions that keep me up at night before putting in an offer such as: How much can I expect the price of my home to go up? What will our new house insurance premium be? Do we really need to update that kitchen to keep on par with the neighborhood? And those are the easy ones!

And then we came across the Home to Be App from The Co-operators. This free and easy-to-use app not only offers a wealth of knowledge about a property but also equips you to make sound decisions – especially when you’re making one of the biggest ones of your life! Some of the easy-to-access information includes the home’s estimated value, home insurance estimate, potential repair costs for the interior and exterior of the house, neighborhood analysis and so much more. I love that it takes the guesswork out of signing on the dotted line so there are no surprises on the day you close – except the pop of the champagne cork!

My personal favourite aspect is being able to have an app estimate how much value I can expect from a home. Since we aren’t searching for that ‘forever’ property – we have renovations and big plans on our minds – we need to know that a big move and investment would be worth it in the long haul. The neighborhood analysis is also great!

House hunting on the mind? Be sure to download the Home to Be app here and take one more thing off your plate. Let the app worry for you so you can worry about building those Pinterest boards, picking up the Veuve and starting to dream up big reno plans!
